What are UTM parameters?
UTM parameters are tags appended to a URL that tell analytics tools where a visitor came from. The five standard ones are utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_term, and utm_content.
Which UTM parameters are required?
Google Analytics treats source, medium, and campaign as the core three. Term and content are optional but useful for paid search and A/B tests.
Should I use uppercase or lowercase?
Always lowercase. UTM values are case-sensitive — "Facebook" and "facebook" become two different sources in your reports.
